Old caps are a lighter plastic (29 grams) can get difficult to tighten, not want to stay on, and pop off at the worst times, exposing your purple martin nest to the elements and predators. These caps are a heavier (46 grams) UV treated polymer that will not slip or lose its opacity in the sun.

Embossed with an attractive purple martin design these caps are designed for ergonomic handling. They feature an Easy Grip Cap on the outside rim of each cap has oversized "bumps" that go beyond the standard small "grip ridges" you customarily find. These bumps allow landlord with compromised dexterity to more easily grasp a cap when opening or closing a gourd.
